Three principles guide the approach:
Effective March 18, 2022, PMs transitioned to Fidelity Investments.
Hear from portfolio manager Anna Lester and investment director, Bryan Anderson on how the Quantitative Research and Investments (QRI) team applies a data-driven, multi-factor approach to global equity investing.
Quantitative investing uses data and rules-based models, rather than relying solely on judgments about individual companies, to evaluate and rank stocks.
Fidelity Global Quant Equity ETF pairs this systematic approach with active oversight from experienced portfolio managers. This investment process uses data science techniques to promote a repeatable and consistent process that can help to mitigate human biases.
Unlike a passive index fund that simply tracks a benchmark, this actively managed strategy uses a quantitative, multi-factor approach to evaluate over 2,400 global stocks in the MSCI All Country World Index and identify investment opportunities.
The quantitative model that drives portfolio construction decisions is built with a defined set of risk controls, including sector, country and size considerations. The model is monitored and assessed by the portfolio management team on an ongoing basis. Stocks are picked and ranked from the investment universe of MSCI ACWI Index with the aim of constructing a well-diversified portfolio. The risk profile is expected to be similar in nature to the benchmark MSCI ACWI Index.
No. While stock scoring starts with a systematic model, Fidelity’s portfolio managers actively review trade lists, portfolio construction and attribution before and after implementation. In addition, the model is constantly evolving, with signals being added or adjusted based on the portfolio managers’ ongoing research.
Yes, it’s designed to serve as a diversified, cost-effective core global equity holding within a broader portfolio. The fund has a medium risk rating.
