Growing global tensions

Stay safe amid geopolitical uncertainty.

In times of geopolitical uncertainty, the global economy, including the financials sector, can be at heightened risk for cyber activity. We’re taking proactive steps to share information on how you can secure your financial data and services.

What you need to know

Cybercriminals can exploit periods of global uncertainty to target businesses, customers and employees. They commonly try to

  • trick people into disclosing sensitive information, such as personal or company login details
  • send fake emails or texts pretending to be a government official or a financial institution
  • spread fake news and information online
  • target websites, apps or systems used by the public

How to protect yourself

Staying vigilant and taking action is the best way to protect yourself, your data and your loved ones from harm.

  • Be cautious with emails and links: Be wary of urgent-sounding messages, and do not click on any links or attachments without verifying.
  • Use strong unique passwords: Use a minimum of 12 characters with a mix of numbers, letters and special characters. Do not use passwords across accounts.
  • Report suspicious activity: When in doubt, report any unusual communications impersonating Fidelity to FICCustService@fidelity.ca.
  • Beware of misinformation: Follow verified sources such as government sites or major news organizations for the latest updates.

Your security is our top priority. We are monitoring the situation closely and have strong controls in place to protect your information.

Remember, if you receive a suspicious message, email or phone call claiming to be from Fidelity, do not click, reply or share any personal information. Instead, contact us directly through fidelity.ca or our customer service phone number, (416) 307-5200 or 1+(800) 263-4077 (toll-free).

Be aware, stay secure.
