June-Yon Kim is a portfolio manager for Fidelity Investments. Based in Tokyo, June manages Fidelity Japan Fund, for Canadian investors. He also manages several Japanese funds for international investors, as well as Japanese domestic investors.
June joined Fidelity as a Japanese equity analyst in 1997, covering game software, computer software and services, electronic components, semiconductors, semiconductor capital equipment, industrial electronics, securities brokers and Korean semiconductors. In 2002, June was promoted as portfolio manager and successfully managed a number of Japanese and Pacific Basin equity portfolios.
In 2003, June left Fidelity to help set up a new asset management business called Hachibushu Capital Limited, where he co-managed a long/short subportfolio of Triloka Master Fund. This fund won a Best New Fund category award at the AsiaHedge awards in 2004. However, June realized that the environment, resources and support did not match those available at Fidelity, and therefore made the decision to return to Fidelity in 2006. June assumed portfolio management responsibilities for Fidelity Japan Fund in 2011.
June has an MBA in finance and accounting from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, as well as a BA in economics and Asian studies from Cornell University.
